Hammer-IMS story published in GeniaaL magazine of University of Leuven (Dutch language)

The theme of ‘entrepreneurship’ receives a lot of attention within the Faculty of Engineering at KU Leuven. An example of this is the spin-off company Hammer-IMS, which applies knowledge of mm-wave circuits to industrial applications. The powerful multi-sensor systems provide manufacturers of fabrics, plastics, and nonwovens with clear insight into the quality of their products. These innovative solutions serve as an alternative to existing nuclear and radioactive systems in the market.

Hammer-IMS was founded in 2016 as a spin-off of the research division ESAT-MICAS. Hammer-IMS is a high-tech machine manufacturer specializing in systems for inline measurement of thickness, weight, and anomalies in thin films, technical textiles, nonwovens, and coated materials across various industries. GeniaaL interviewed Noël Deferm, General Manager of Hammer-IMS. He recounts the origin and recent evolution of the company.
