Automotive Tier 1 supplier Autoneum selected non-nuclear Hammer-IMS Marveloc-CURTAIN system for R&T Center in Switzerland

Autoneum is globally leading in acoustic and thermal management for vehicles. The Company develops and produces multifunctional, lightweight components and systems for interior floor and engine bay as well as the underbody. Customers include almost all automobile manufacturers in Europe, North & South America, Asia and Africa.

Autoneum was looking for a non-destructive basis weight measurement system that could help to measure and improve the basis weight distribution and quality of a large variety of materials such as thick airlaid felt, nonwovens, heavy layer, foam slabs. After testing several existing equipment on the market, Autoneum selected the innovative, safe (non-nuclear, non X-Ray) Hammer-IMS Marveloc-CURTAIN system because of its flexibility and ability to accurately measure thick materials.

“Renting a lab equipment for a 3-month period convinced us that the M-Ray technology was the perfect measurement system to analyze the variability of thick materials. Unlike the traditional use case of online quality control, we were looking for a unique out of the box solution to use the scanner both offline as an R&T tool and online if needed. We particularly appreciated the support and open collaboration with the Hammer-IMS team to come up with tailor made solutions. This made us decide to purchase a system from Hammer. The system, installed in spring 2019, is flexible and can also be transferred to a production plant to monitor and improve quality of our semi-finished continuous lines. Hammer was particularly listening to our specific needs and came up with practical yet innovative solutions. In addition, the software adaptation to our off line measurement device needs were perfectly executed. Hammer-IMS’ fast and reactive customer support were key to the success of the project.”
