CURTAIN O-Frame

Lighting options

Choosing the right lighting technique can improve defect detection, reduce false alarms, and ensure your inspection system delivers consistent, reliable results. The Edge-Vision-4.0-Curtain supports multiple lighting techniques, allowing you to optimize inspection results for a wide variety of applications:

Bright-field lighting

Bright-field lighting illuminates the object directly from above or the front, creating strong contrast on surface features and textures. It’s ideal for detecting surface defects, scratches or dirt on reflective or opaque materials.

Dark-field lighting

Dark-field lighting uses angled or side illumination, causing defects like scratches or bumps to scatter light differently than smooth surfaces. This highlights edges and surface irregularities with high contrast against a dark background, perfect for subtle surface inspection.

Transmission lighting

Transmission lighting illuminates the object from behind, allowing light to pass through transparent or semi-transparent materials. This method excels in inspecting holes, cracks, or inclusions in thin films, glass, plastics, or packaging materials.

AI-powered quality control

As AI is increasingly on the rise, we developed an AI-enabled feature. Based on a dataset of images, pre-classified by the customer, we use artificial intelligence to execute a learning process offline and build a powerful neural network for use during in-line quality control. When inspecting textile, plastic, or battery film in-line, the newly developed software continuously traces product defects and foreign items on the product.

Integrated quality control software

The software environment for Edge-Vision-4.0 is called Connectivity 3.0. It provides a fully integrated quality control solution by combining different measurement tools within the same system. The software offers:

  • Real-Time Feedback: Monitors and reports on product quality continuously.
  • Product Acceptance/Rejection: Automatically marks, rejects, or provides visual feedback on defective products.
  • Dimension Tracking: Tracks dimensions of batch-processed items like panels and boards.
  • User-Friendly Interface: Controlled from a panel PC or optional stack light, with an intuitive interface for easy operation.

Making human-machine interaction as intuitive as possible

The Edge-Vision-4.0 platform is typically controlled from a panel pc or optional stack light (our HMI technology), but is also available in a stand-alone version where only a few knobs enable you to tune the system's behavior. In either of the two cases, our Hammer-IMS Embedded Connectivity 3.0 software will be taken care of processing the vision data. Hammer-IMS Embedded Connectivity 3.0 makes interaction as intuitive as possible. Our platform is available with a PROFINET or optionally OPC UA link as well.
