HAMMER-IMS Expands into Japan Through Strategic Partnership with ADSTEC

Funabashi, Japan, July 2025

HAMMER-IMS has taken a major step in expanding its international presence by partnering with ADSTEC in Funabashi, Japan. As part of this strategic collaboration, ADSTEC recently purchased a HAMMER-IMS system—marking an important milestone in introducing our advanced measurement solutions to the Japanese battery industry.

The Japanese Battery Industry

ADSTEC, located at 568-1-1 Innai-cho, Funabashi-city, Chiba 273-0025, Japan, has strong connections within Japan’s dynamic battery sector. Japan is among the world’s largest and most advanced battery markets. In 2024, the industry produced approximately 79.2 GWh of batteries, with projections showing growth to nearly 230 GWh by 2033, driven by electric vehicles, renewable energy storage, and mobile technology. The lithium-ion battery segment alone is estimated at USD $3.5 billion, with next-gen battery technologies like solid-state batteries expected to reach USD $5.3 billion in the near future.

Government targets and strategic investments are aiming to increase domestic battery output capacity to 150 GWh per year by 2030—making Japan a global hub for advanced battery manufacturing.

Strategic Launch & Commercial Readiness

ADSTEC successfully completed the startup and installation of the HAMMER-IMS system. Their teams participated in a focused workshop that covered system operation, sales training, and sample testing procedures. The workshop was designed to enable ADSTEC to demonstrate the system's capabilities directly to customers in the Japanese market.

Representing ADSTEC during the workshop were Motoki Maeshima, Masaki Ota, and Takamichi Tomooka from the Sales Department, and Tatsuo Kashiwagi from the Engineering Department. Their strong engagement and enthusiasm reflect ADSTEC’s commercial readiness to bring the technology to market. The Sales and Business Development team at ADSTEC is now looking forward to actively offering the HAMMER-IMS system to their network of prospects across Japan’s battery industry.

At HAMMER-IMS, the project was led by Nele Reynders, who served as project manager and technical point of contact for ADSTEC. Ms. Reynders coordinated the technical and logistical execution of the project and ensured that ADSTEC's requirements and expectations were met with precision and professionalism. Her role was key in turning this international collaboration into a successful launch.

Leadership and Vision

This strategic partnership was initiated under the guidance of President Yuki Kojima, whose clear vision and commitment to innovation led ADSTEC to explore and adopt HAMMER-IMS technology. His decision to invest in this collaboration reflects a forward-looking mindset focused on quality, efficiency, and sustainable growth.

Looking Ahead: Sustainable Partnership

With plans to showcase HAMMER-IMS at leading industry trade shows in Japan, ADSTEC is committed to raising awareness and adoption of this technology across the region. Both companies share the ambition to build a long-term, sustainable partnership, combining HAMMER-IMS’s state-of-the-art European technology with ADSTEC’s strong market knowledge and relationships.

This successful system purchase and launch is just the beginning of a promising new chapter for HAMMER-IMS in Japan.
