3D Laser Profiling

High-precision topography & volume inspection

While 2D cameras are excellent for detecting flat, visual defects (such as scratches or stains), 3D Laser Profilers take your quality control a crucial step further. They add a vital extra dimension to your inline inspection: height and depth.

With micrometer precision, our 3D laser systems scan the exact surface topography and volume of your materials. Whether you need to detect three-dimensional deformations or continuously monitor product shape, 3D laser profiling makes the invisible visible.

How it works: Laser Triangulation

Our 3D laser profilers utilize advanced laser triangulation. The system projects a razor-thin laser line onto the moving material. An integrated high-speed camera observes the deformation of this laser line from a specific angle.

As the material moves beneath the sensor, our software instantly translates these variations into a live, three-dimensional height model. Every scratch, dent, and thickness variation is captured and visualized in real time.

Key applications & benefits

Our 3D laser profilers are specifically engineered for challenging industrial environments. The system is perfectly suited for:

  • Perfect for high-precision dimensional measurements.
  • Complex surfaces: Inspection of structured, rough, or materials such as textiles, foam, (wood)panels, opaque plastics, and extrusion profiles.
  • 3D defects: Instant detection of blisters, wrinkles, dents, inclusions, or edge drops that remain invisible to traditional 2D cameras.

Why choose 3D Profiling?

  • Color and texture independent: Because the system measures geometry (shape) rather than color or contrast, it functions flawlessly on black, white, or heavily patterned materials.
  • Real-time volume calculation: The software does not just detect that a defect is present; it instantly calculates its exact depth, height, and volume.
  • Micrometer precision: Continuous quality assurance based on exact, reproducible measurement data.
